Join us for this critique style meet up where we help each other hone our skills and become better writers. We are primarily fiction writers, but have had successful groups with non-fiction story tellers as well, so any are welcome.
Each of us brings around 2000 words of a short story, scene, or chapter (or the occasional poem) to share. We gather at 6:00pm, throw all our pieces in a pile on the table, and read from around 6:30-8:00pm. After that, we go through the pile and give high level constructive criticism on plot, character development, and flow to each author in turn. It can be helpful to bring a pen and take notes on the piece, and we do use some standard (or not so standard) editing marks as we go; however, we do not stress grammar errors.
If this sounds like your kind of group, stop in to check us out or e-mail one of our group leaders with questions.
