Join us for this critique style meet up where we help each other hone our skills and become better writers. We are primarily fiction writers, but have had successful groups with non-fiction story tellers as well, so any are welcome.
Each of us brings around 1500-2000 words of short story, scene, or chapter (plus the occasional poem) to share. We gather at 6:00pm, throw all our pieces in a pile on the table, and read from around 6:30-8:15pm. After that, we go through the pile and give high level constructive criticism on plot, character development, and flow to each author in turn. It can be helpful to bring a pen and take notes on the piece as you read. We do use some standard (or not so standard) editing marks as we go; however, we do not stress grammar errors since most of our pieces are early drafts.
If this sounds like your kind of group, please e-mail one of our group leaders with questions.
NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE:
Dear prospective members,
Thank you so much for your interest in joining our writing group. We deeply apologize, but recent developments in the expansion of the group have necessitated change to our management strategies and so, effective immediately, this group will be TEMPORARILY closed until such time as we can support more of you enthusiastic authors and poets.
We very much value new faces, new perspectives, and new creativity so we hope to open the group back up soon. Please keep checking back and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Thank you very much for your patience.
