Basic Studio Photography Class - Portrait - III

  • Mar 8, 2014 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Studio Photography is the classic field of taking photos in a closed space, called a studio :) it involves scary items like flash lights, reflectors, backdrops ring lights and light meters.

This class is a basic introduction to studio photography using portrait photography as a starting point to understand the basics when working in a studio, before going to more advanced subjects.

I've spend the past 3 years in a studio and take about 15k photos per year in it. I want to introduce you to this field and teach you in small groups about this topic.

The idea for this class is that it is a step in a sequence of classes that takes you through the various areas of studio photography. Portrait, Fashion/Lingerie and Nudes. Each step adds to the equation, so when we're getting to the more difficult items you're well prepared for it.

In this class you learn
- How to setup your camera
- How to measure light
- How do studio flash systems work
- What is a ring light and how to use it
- Setup a basic light setup for a portrait/head shot
- Composing a head shot
- Postprocessing a headshot (lightroom)

The duration for this class is approximately 3 hours
The cost per participant is 100CHF
There is a limit of maximum 3 participants
There will be a model to take photos of
The class can be repeated to accommodate more people
The location is a Studio in Zürich

- Bring your own camera.
- optionally bring your laptop for post processing
- camera manuals are helpful if you're new to it.

PS: This is the third instance of the basic introduction for because of the limited slots available. Based on previous experience i will only confirm slots for those participants that have payed for their slot.

The class was very interesting and I learnt a lot! To improve it even more I would have liked to get some material with facts to study or go back to at home. Could be recommended settings, how exactly to work with light metering, the spyder cube, different flashes and reflectors etc.

Can I already put myself on the list for another upcoming event like this? Unfortunately I don't have the time and the possibility to watch new events and react as they come in. Like that I have no chance to participate :-(
