Join, if you are interested in exploring the culinary delights that can be found in top notch restaurants. Think working off the *** places in the guide rouge michelin (or alike) no further than a weekend trip away from Zürich. If you are new to eating on this level of cooking-craft, don't worry about this possibly being a stiff or status driven affair. It is not. Caviar and champagne is not what this is about - and besides, you can have those everywhere in the world. This group is about is about finding and sharing the experiencing of the two spoonful of perfectly grilled fresh summer peas hidden in an otherwise splendid tasting menu that shift your perception of what you previously though possible in a kitchen. This group is about bringing together those people who do (or would) enjoy restaurant craft at the top level (more often) but lack the people around them who share this passion to do so (more often).
For the record, this group is not trying to replicate what is already very well covered by groups like
but will try to go beyond what most people consider "reasonable effort" in terms of time, travel and money to achieve the indulgence.
If you consider this crazy, don't worry. It does not matter, as long as you like it.
Hence, this will never become a weekly meeting, which stands to reason if you actually are willing to travel to e.g. Alba in Piemonte over the weekend just to to have an outstanding meal. That said, there is no _need_ to travel afar if we find extraordinary places to eat closer to Zürich. Just check if one of the above zürich restaurant explorer groups might not be more fitting before making a suggestion here.
Now for the scope of what i had in mind, i have built a custom google maps entry with my suggestions, filled with some initial research into the locations, their tasting menues and ballpark pricings.
I'd be happy to let people become co-organizers for meetups at these places or other top-drawer food places if you are inclined. Just let me know.
