On the Road - Jack Kerouac

On the Road swings to the rhythms of 1950s underground America, jazz, sex, generosity, chill dawns and drugs, with Sal Paradise and his hero Dean Moriarty, traveller and mystic, the living epitome of Beat. Now recognised as a modern classic, its American Dream is nearer that of Walt Whitman than F. Scott Fitzgerald, and it goes racing towards the sunset with unforgettable exuberance, poignancy and autobiographical passion.

    Hi all,

For those still coming there is a table booked under the names Nat/Steve at the Standard so if you don't want to wander around trying to guess who the right group are you can ask at the bar! Also, I don't have a phone that can access internet so I won't be able to provide any last minute assistance in that form..

    See you tonight!

    Nat.

Due to this incessant rain, I'm now declaring myself "off the road". I'm starting to feel like I might get "lost in the flood" tonight, so will bail. But hope to meet you all next time.

It's a relaxed group - and the food at The Standard is pretty good too! Hopefully see you on the 13th.

Hi Siobhan, you're more than welcome to join us - but you will need a parent or guardian with you. Hopefully you can still make it. Steve

I am reading this now.It is a good read . For further background immersion in the culture it depicts try the LP/CD "Bop for Kerouac" by Mark Murphy. It is a classic vocal jazz record with the great singer reciting some of Kerouac's writing over the sound of cool jazz.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
