Okay so with a lead of 10 votes in the poll, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston wins. Sarah R is going to be hosting this meetup. Unforunately, I again will be out of town for my two great friends' engagement party, as well as a bachelor party for another (I'm at that sweet spot in the mid/late 20s where all my friends are getting hitched). SO if we could push the meetup a week earlier or later, that'd be awesome, but no big deal- I don't want to run this group like a dictatorship. I'll make the September one. But more importantly, Sarah R will be there so find her- she'll have the book out (you regulars know the drill). New members- look for a group of awesome people who have the book out, haha.
So everyone go meet at the Trails Cafe by the benches behind the cafe, and get there a bit early if you'd like to order food or coffee as the line can sometimes get a little long. And if you like, Sarah can take you all exploring to find a great spot to sit and discuss what appears to be quite a fine novel.
Lastly, if you'd like to see why I missed the last meetup, check out the link below. It's sure to warm your hearts, that's for sure! I made it for one of my best friends so he could propose to his girlfriend (hence that engagement party I have to make) If you love it, share it with family/friends:
HI everyone! I hope the Tender is the Night discussion was as great as the book (I really loved it)! And I'm sorry I was unable to meet up- I had a Eurotrip that was extended, and then stayed an extra day in Chicago to help a friend propose (she said yes, so it was worth it). But I'm back in LA now and ready to read the next one!
ANYWAY, I'm sure Sara G did a great job, and next up we have Sarah R hosting the August selection. She emailed me her choices, so I put up a poll. It's looking like the Trails Cafe again wins because of how central it is to everyone- so we're going to do that again. If this location is tough for some of you, bring it up at our next meeting and we'll be happy to look elsewhere, but if no one really says anything, this might be a default locale.
So there you have it- go on the poll page, and in a couple days I will close the poll and update the details.
Have a wonderful week!
