So the poll was tied Thursday night between John Fowles' The Magus and Cormac McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses- each with 11 votes. Since a few people commented worried that the Magus' 650 pages would be a bit much to handle in one month, I'm going to give the tie breaker to All the Pretty Horses, since it's much more doable for members with busier schedules. Plus All the Pretty Horses is also the winner of the National Book Award- so it is sure to be an incredible read!
So that being said, get the book by whatever means possible and let's have an amazing discussion, led be the awesome and always in attendance Tim! Cormac McCarthy is a pretty famous American author- you may have heard of some of his other works like The Road... or thanks to the Coen Brothers: No Country for Old Men.
There is also a film adaptation of this staring Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz- so if anyone owns it maybe it'd be great to coordinate a movie night for the group AFTER people have read it... but before the discussion so you can add a little something! If you have the movie or would be up for something like that, use the comment section to coordinate!
Hope to see you all on September 29th!
Hi all- I hope Sunday's discussion was great! Huge thanks to Sarah R. for hosting what was sure to be an excellent discussion. I was in Chicago, so my apologies for missing... but I'm sure to make the next one as I'll FINALLY be free for a weekend! Tim volunteered to host this meetup, and sent me his book choices, so please go to the poll page (under the 'more' section), and vote on the book you'd like to read next. I'll leave the poll open for a few days before closing it. Looks like he's got some pretty great selections, so this next Meetup is sure to be great.
So go vote and then have an awesome week, and I hope to see you all September 29th!
