Hello Spiritual people of Meet-up!!! First of all, this is completely FREE. Second...this isn't a "group" per say but more of a...community. 3rd...We don't have a tribe at Burning Man, and most of us aren't Vegans (not that I have ANYTHING against it) However we are doing our best to be "Spiritually Awake" so that means we come from all races, cultures, and beliefs and will not ever judge yours or your lifestyle.
So....heres who we are...
Every Sunday for the past year an extraordinary group of people have gathered together in a living room, sometimes elbow to elbow, sometimes piled on top of each other with the intention of creating unity together. What does that mean? Well, basically we get together to to go deep and to simply connect. We often spend our lives (especially here in LA) avoiding connection. We put our heads down when someone makes eye contact with us instead of connecting with them, and we do everything we can to avoid starting a conversation with a stranger even when its just the two of us in line waiting for our Latte's at Starbucks. We are afraid to look to the car next to us on the 405 and smile and nod, in fear that person may think we are weird or hitting on them. Just in case the two cars didn't create enough distance, our egos and our insecurities demand even more...so...we stay in our own little bubbles. Well, what we do here on Sundays is exactly the opposite. We are striving to create a community of individuals who don't fit into any socially prescribed box. We gather together simply to connect and to fill each others metaphorical cups in the hopes that our cups will be overflowing with so much love that we can help fill someone else's cup during the week. We are striving to create a community of like minded individuals who believe that service is the key to transforming the world! While this is not a church group, or a religious group...the night is rooted in the writings of the Bahai Faith whose teachings are comprised of the following principals: The Unity of all the religions, The true equality of men and women, the elimination of ALL forms of prejudice, and the harmony between Science and Religion. With that said, most of the attendees are NOT Bahai's and are from all walks of life, all with their own beliefs and religions...we come together to realize that at the core of all of our beliefs...we all believe the same thing. We all believe in UNITY.
Come for the talk, for the food, or for the music... we start off each night with some prayers and a short meditation. Prayers from ALL faiths are spoken and encouraged, and the mediation changes each month and is open to volunteers. Every month we have some awesome jam sessions with incredible musicians, and most importantly we talk...about everything. NOTHING IS OFF LIMITS. Some of our past topics have been: What is the Soul? Life after Death. Detachment. Love. Growth and Pain. Unity. Prayer. Art and inspiration... and the list goes on and on and on. If you are new to LA or just don't feel like you have made a core group of friends...this is an incredible place to meet like minded people, make friends, and go deep. Our house is a safe place to put aside the barriers of religion or lack there of and just be, with other humans and realize that there really is NO DIFFERENCE between us. Also once a month we will be gathering together as a community to perform an act of SERVICE!! The purpose of our Sunday talk has always been to connect and to build a community of people who want to.....THROUGH their ACTIONS make this world a better place! While it sounds hippie, its the truth.... the building blocks of UNITY start with service... so... THE TIME HAS COME....LETS DO THIS!!! Come join and be a part of our community so together we can change the world.. one heart at a time. I can't promise you a spiritual awakening if you come, but I can promise you a LOVE EXPLOSION.
Because this happens in our West Hollywood house, we can't take more than 100 people per Sunday, and we already have a community of around 60 who gather consistently at the house each month, so we can only open this Meet-up to 40 people per month. I look forward to meeting you, and connecting with you and wish you nothing but love and growth on your journey! So much love, Justin
