Epping Forest walk with cosy pub at the end

With so much beauty on our doorstep, why should we go any further?Winter is upon us, mulled wine is a must, so time for Epping Forest with a relaxed afternoon finish in the pub.

It's a forest walk (Did the name give it away?) of 16km/10 miles. Although Epping forest is fairly accessible and the paths will be well maintained, there might be a stile or two and, given the season, it will be MUDDY. Yes, mud is back on the menu! This is a level 4 walk.

£1 cash upon arrival.

Meeting & Transport: 11am, Epping central line tube station. Please arrange your own transport.

By Tube: Epping is on the Central Line. Use the TFL website to figure out how you can best get there.

By Car: Parking is available at the station, but there is a charge. For station details and address, please go here:
Looking for a car-share or want to split petrol? Put your spare seats on the carpool/transport forum:[masked]

Lunch: If the weather is good we'll have a picnic, if the weather is bad we'll stop at the Epping Forest visitor's centre who have a small coffee place. Either way, please bring food in case the centre is closed. There is a pub at the end where we'll have a drink to celebrate finishing the walk.

plenty of water. (1L good, 2L better)
water-proofs: We're going rain or shine
Packed lunch. We'll have a picnic along the way.
Some snacks.
Camera - there will be some nice views.
Good footwear with a change of socks. (Hiking/walking shoes essential. Plimsolls or trainers are NOT acceptable.)
cash for a pint and/or food at the pub in the end. The most important part of the walk!

Questions? Send me an email, or ring/text me on 07925081352.

Please note: I operate a 2-strike system for no-shows. Please have a look at the admin forum under 'winter hiking' for more information. By signing up you confirm you are fit and healthy enough to complete this walk. There are no train stations during the walk so no mid-way bail outs. You are responsible for your own well-being, so please walk responsibly.

Hi guys, so I reccied it today, and it's quite pretty. But if you have gaiters, you may want to bring them, as it really is quite muddy in certain stretches! Remember: No trainers!

Also; I'll run this hike again in January, but as a NIGHT hike. Yes, that's right, in the dark. Watch this space!!

Hi Graham, that's a shame! Not to worry, there will be loads more walks in January, and there is still a space available for the Edenbridge boundary walk in December!
