Welcome to The 500 miles. We're fresh-air loving bunch of people ranging from 20 to 75, with smaller groups and longer routes.
We don't walk 500 miles in one go. Promise!
I've been organising hikes for friends and groups for half a decade, mainly because I desperately needed to escape the city. But also because I really enjoy showing everyone a different side of life. Along the way I have met some of my closest friends on here, and had the pleasure of meeting some fantastic people along the way.
I dont make any money out of this, it's all about giving everyone a great day out. The fee I post is literally to cover my cost and nothing more.... But if you feel the urge to buy me a pint at the end I couldnt possibly say no. ;)
The routes we walk tend to be a bit longer, and the groups are a bit smaller, so we can get over stiles quicker, and you get to have a chat with everyone along the way. We always finish in a nice pub to celebrate the day.
Routes vary from standard at about 15km (7 miles), to challenging hikes and long walks going up to 35km(22miles), and will take between 4 to 8 hours. But all will take you through some of the most beautiful countryside the South East has to offer. The pace is steady, but comfortable. After all; it's not a race. If you want fast, I'm sure there is a running club on meetup too. ;)
All walks start from a trainstation that has convenient connections to central london, because I am a strong believer that walking is something that is for everyone, no matter how young, old, rich or poor.
