Check out the new Iditarod trail in Turnagain Pass

Let's go check out the Iditarod trail up in Turnagain.  I have been on part of this but have not really gone very far, so this is an exploratory trip for me. We will try to go from Eddie's to Tin Can parking lots.

Bring metal edged skis and skins - I don't expect lots of 'turns' so this is more of a tour.  Depending on the group size and available cars we will try to drop a vehicle at one end and do a one-way trip.

Rain down low may send us up towards Johnson Pass for a different version of a tour.  Early departure since some people need to be back in town for social obligations.

Bring skis/skins/poles, clothes for the weather, food/water, Avalanche beacon, probe, shovel.  Expect to be out for most of the day.

Just another ho-hum, humdrum, mundane day ski touring in Alaska's amazing backcountry with the AARP (Alaska Association of Ridiculous People) gang. Haha! We had fun skiing through virgin snow, exploring new-to-us areas, playing Lewis and Clark. What a great group of competent skiers. I'm already looking forward to our next grand adventure!

Me encantó. Hay muchos arboles en Alaska y también, hay muchos montañas. Con galletas, cervezas, osos de agua y la nieve derritiendo hay muchos posibilidades. Buenos días sí señor.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
