Portage Glacier - easy ski/snowshoe trip

This is an easy, family-oriented trip to ski or snowshoe across Portage Lake to view Portage Glacier.  It's about 6 miles roundtrip. The weather is supposed to be sunny so it should be a fun trip with scenic views. Dogs are okay on this trip, as long as you clean up after them. Bring water, snacks, and enough clothing to stay warm in case a breeze picks up.

Either meet at Carrs Huffman by 1:45, ready to leave promptly, or meet out at the Portage Glacier Visitor Center parking lot around 2:30 or 2:40.

Ivy, the snow was fine, actually quite nice, with minimal crusty stuff. THere was even some powder to ski through! The ice seemed fine and didn't seem to be melting fast.

Hi I am curious to see how the lake was for you guys three days ago? Was there anything to worry about? Did the lake ice seem to be melting quite a bit? Thanks

It was a little windy, but we still had a great trip, with lots of sunshine! I enjoyed meeting the "newbies," and hope to see Thao, Matt and Lisa again in the future. My granddaughter really enjoyed seeing the glacier.
