Beach Bastards

Join us for a group outing to Watch Hill Beach in Rhode Island. We'll set off early from New Haven, soak up the sun, hit the waves, then work out in the surf. (Think burpees suck on dry land? Try them with saltwater up your nose and sand where the sun don't shine!)

The outing is free, but parking in Westerly, R.I. is expensive, so let's try to car pool. More details will follow.

Important: If you are going to the beach and plan to meet at Ikea, try to get there by 8 a.m.

If you're planning to go to the beach in Rhode Island Sunday, here are things you need to know.

#1 I will NOT be meeting at Ikea. I will be camping, and will go to the beach straight from there. So, meet in the parking lot and carpool. (Parking in Watch Hill costs $25 or $30.)

#2 There is another bootcamp meeting in the Ikea parking lot, also friends of mine. If you go in the main entrance from Sargent Drive and turn right just after the pedestrian crossing (opposite the Ikea building entrance) they should be gathering at 8:30. Ask for Mario, and tell him you're with me -- he's expecting you. Carpool with them.

#3 If you drive up on your own, Google Everett Avenue in Westerly, R.I. That's the beach access road. Drop off your passengers and gear, then head into town and park. We usually walk down Everett to the beach, turn left, and lay out our blankets. #4 There are two beach areas at Watch Hill. We're on the side with the Ocean House, a big, yellow hotel.
