Level 4-Pictograph Cave hike

Pictograph Cave opens May 1st, so lets go hike to the cave and check it out. The hike to the cave is about 1.5 miles. I don't know the length of the cave itself.

This is a Level 4 due to the footing in the cave.

It's not a long hike, but footing in the cave can be very dangerous! We will have to scramble down to the entrance. If your not comfortable hiking on rocks, this is not for you.. No dogs please and no guest.

Be sure to bring a headlamp and/or flashlight.

We'll meet in the Fred Meyer parking lot, under the gas price sign.

We had an amazing day! I haven't been in a cave since I was a child. Hiking this cave was an adventure. Thank you Aaron for hosting/organizing the hike. Thank you everyone for making us feel so welcome.

The dust masks are making me uncomfortable to go in the cave. I am giving up my spot to a bigger adventurer. Have fun everyone. I would go if I could just hike the hike and not go into the cave.

No prob. Better to be safe and sorry if you think you will feel uncomfortable. The dust mask recommendation was just a precaution. Most likely wouldn't be needed.

Please remember to bring a GOOD headlamp and/or flashlight. Extra batteries. Also, this cave has bats and the air quality can be questionable. I would recommend bringing a dust mask just in case one is needed.
Remember this is a sensitive ecosystem, we need to do our best to prevent any contamination to it. If you have been in another cave recently, please be sure to clean any packs or clothes that you have used in it.
I will need everyone"s to help each other to get in and out safely. Thanks!

We're taking bandanas with us, in place of dust masks just in case. Hoping they work just as good.

I can't figure out how to add a plus 1 but my wife will be coming with me.

    April 28, 2013

    • Aaron

You can't add a plus one, because I have no guest to this hike, sorry.

      April 29, 2013

    • Aaron

Bruce, I have limited hikers for this hike to keep the noise level down in the cave, and only allowing members to go is only fair. Maybe you can take your wife there on a later date.

    April 28, 2013

    • Aaron

I don't know, probably after noon. Depends on how long the cave is.
