Level 4 - Swampy Lake/Vista Butte Exploratory Loop Hike

Level 4 - Swampy Lake/Vista Butte Exploratory Loop Hike
Starting at Swampy Lake Snow Park we will hike to the Swampy Lake Hut, and then loop around towards the Northwest side of Vista Butte to hike to the summit. We will than continue our loop heading back to Swampy Lake Snow Park. This is an EXPLORITAORY HIKE. We have never hiked these trails before, but have snow shoed the area. It will be approximately 9 to 10 miles. We do not know the current conditions of the trails. There may still be some patchy snow and fallen trees maybe in the area so please be prepared. You must be comfortable using GPS or Map and Compass.
Make sure to bring plenty of water, something to eat, and the proper clothing for the conditions. Weather can change without much notice.
Meet at the Safeway parking lot on Century Drive at 8am. Please park in the NW corner of the parking lot near the roundabout; we'll carpool from there. If you have a Snow Park Pass and or Northwest Forest Pass please bring them.

This is a small group so please keep your RSVPs up to date. It isn't fair if someone on a waiting list doesn't get to go, or someone else is deterred from signing up at all, and then you no-show.

outstanding hike for late spring - a fair amount of snow but easy to navigate - great views from the top of Vista Butte

Sorry, I have to cancel. My niece is at the ski training camp this week and tomorrow afternoon is one of her few free times. If you end up canceling because of weather, I'm in for the next attempt.

Any estimate of when we'll finish the hike?

None at all, as we do not know what we may or may not run into.
