Intermediate Hike to Horse Lake

We will meet at 7:30 am at the North West corner of the Safeway parking lot on Century.
This will be approximately a 9 mile loop with approximately 800 ft. of elevation gain. Leaving from the parking lot of Elk Lake Trailhead we will head out on Horse Lake Trail and loop around to Sunset Lake Trail to head back.
We will stop at the lake for a bite to eat before heading back. Please bring plenty of water, something to snack on and the ten essentials.
If anyone is up for it after the hike we can stop at Cascade Lake Brewery for lunch.

Northwest Parking Pass required  Don't forget $$$ for you driver

Hi Laura, I left comments twice, then realized I have to be attending to post. Am not going as we hiked this with our dogs Friday; did want to let you know about the yellow jackets. About 1+ miles past where you cross over the PCT, we encountered a couple who were backpacking; they warned us about the nest, their dogs had been stung. As we had no GPS, the best I can tell you is that it is about 45 minutes from where you cross the PCT. You will come to a ginormous {uprooted} tree stump, the trail curves around it; I would start looking after that. It is right on the trail, left side, yellow jackets are swarming. Despite our caution, my friend was stung; the dogs & I were able to take a wide berth around it.

I'm going to try to make this one. But will let you know by Sat. night if I think I have too much to do before I leave town on Monday.

with only a few going, why no dogs or +1?

It is up to each Event Organizer to allow dogs on a trip. I choose not to have dogs. As for +1's we made it a general rule of the club to not allow +1's because they would not be covered by the waiver.
