I have always loved to hike. I spent several summers working at National parks with concessioners (Yellowstone, Glacier, Zion, Mt. Rainier and Lake Crescent) so many of my days off were spent hiking all over the place. Also just moved from Arizona, so a few recent backpack trips in the Grand Canyon and lots of day hikes around Flagstaff and Sedona.
I'm pretty comfortable around 8,000 feet. I haven't done a lot of high-altitude hikes (though I have hiked above 14,000 several years ago without complication).
Yes...for instance the extra amount of food and water when you're hiking in heat vs. cooler weather. Also the importance of sun protection.
Hiking is my favorite. I also like to be on the river. I haven't skied in many years. I do enjoy snowshoeing and would like to cross-country ski more.
I am definitely not fast! I average about 2 mph in a general sense...I like to take in the sights around me.
Hey, I'm Abby and I love to hike! (Imagine that) My boyfriend and I have recently moved to Bend from Flagstaff and are both looking forward to exploring this area!
