From: Tom R.
Sent on: Tuesday, October 9, 2007 4:39 PM
Announcing a new event for The Bend Hiking Meetup Group!

What: Guided hike in the Badlands

When: Saturday, December 1, 8:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: Join us for a guided hike in the Badlands Wilderness area East of Bend.

David Eddleston, of ONDA, will lead the group on a hike through the Badland Wilderness East of Bend. For those of you that haven't yet explored this area, the Badlands is as close to a natural High Desert Wilderness as you can get. It is composed of Lava ridges, Juniper trees and sand. David will show us some of the well known and less-well known sights and will tell us about ONDA's efforts to protect this unique area for quiet recreation.

Meet at Starbucks on th East Side at the junction of Rt 20 and 27th St. I know - there are three Starbucks! I mean the one by the Texaco gas station. Meet at 8am.

The hike will be about 10 miles and will be easy to moderate. There is no water in the Badlands to bring plenty to drink. It may also be chilly to dress appropriately.
