Hi all -- So, I'm trying to get out of a weekend reservation at the Paulina Lake Lodge and was wondering if anyone was interested in snowshoeing or x-country skiing in the nights of Feb 15 and/or 16 (friday and saturday nights). I reserved the Snowbird Cabin. Anyone interested??

Here's the website http://www.paulinalakelodge.com/rentnstay.htm. Looks great, but folks cancelled on me....

Cheers,

Subject: [hiking-309] New Meeting: Snow Shoe Hike
Date: Mon, 4 Feb[masked]:44:41 -0500

Announcing a new meeting for The Bend Hiking Meetup Group!

What: Snow Shoe Hike

When: Sunday, February 10, 8:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meeting Description: With a bit of luck the trails should be in great shape after all the new snow. Join me for a short snowshoe hike in one of the snowparks. The exact destination and length of hike will depend on the snow conditions but we'll plan to make this a relatively short hike - suitable for less experienced hikers.

As always, you need to dress appropriately for the conditions. Dress in layers so you can adjust your insulation. Don't wear cotton!!! It doesn't keep you warm. Wear gaiters - to stop the snow getting into your boots. Bring some lunch and plenty to drink. I always carry a small flask of tea or coffee.

Depending on the conditions, we'll aim to hike to one of the huts. Maybe Swampy lakes or perhaps the Edison Shelter.

I'll see you at Starbucks on Century Drive at 8am ON SUNDAY 10th Feb.

For sleepyheads who don't like the early start - believe me, its worth it. If the weather is good the snowparks fill up early. It is good to be ahead of the crowds. And the sooner we start, the sooner we finish and get back to Bend for a nice cup of coffee!

Please note - we are going to try Sunday for a change.

Tom
