Event Description:
Hi Bend Hikers.

Join us for a point to point hike from Gray Butte to Smith Rock State park. Gray Butte is the big hill to the North of Redmond. The hike is about 10 miles and is moderate. There are no big climbs but the trail down to Smith Rock is steep and loose in places. We need at least two cars. We'll drop one car in the Smith Rock parking lot then drive to the Gray Butte Trail head near Skull Hollow campground on Lone Pine road. (great names!). The hike skirts around the West flank of the mountain with spectacular views of the whole Cascades range from Mt Adams to Bachelor. It ends in the Smith Rock gorge.

Meet at the Cascades Village Starbucks at 9:00am. We'll car pool. The Skull Hollow road is kind of rough so it would be useful to have high clearance vehicles.

Hazel will lead the hike as Tom will be on a business trip.
