Hello Stan-
Well, I have about 1,000 miles of past backpacking experience and have taught "Lite Pack'n" classes at COCC a decade ago.

How can I help you? I could do a Class for the never or new or experienced folks: "show and tell" and more.

I should mention my Map, Compass and GPS class on Saturday, March 28, 2009:

More in April, of course ;-))

"TraditionalMountaineering is founded on the premise that "He who knows naught, knows not that he knows naught", that exploring the hills and summitting peaks have dangers that are hidden to the un-informed and that these inherent risks can be in part identified and mitigated by information, training, interesting gear and knowledge gained through the experiences of others.

The value of TraditionalMountaineering to our Friends and Subscribers is the selectivity of the information we provide, and its relevance to introducing folks to hiking on the trail, exploring off the trail, mountain travel and Leave-no-Trace light-weight bivy and backpacking, technical travel over steep snow, rock and ice, technical glacier travel and a little technical rock climbing on the way to the summit. Whatever your capabilities and interests, there is a place for everyone in traditional mountaineering."

Subject: [hiking-309] Future Overnight Backpack Trips

I wanted to take a poll and see how many would be interested in doing some overnight backpack trips this Spring/Summer. The first one would be a beginner trip staying one night at one of our nearby lakes. For those that have not experienced being in the wilderness at night and early morning would be in for a real treat. Encountering the beauty of nature can be truly enhanced with this type of adventure!

Please indicate your interest by e-mailing back so I can better gage the interest level out there.

Happy Hiking!!

Stan Kiefer
