Announcing a new Meetup for The Bend Hiking Meetup Group!

What: Camping and Hiking at Glass Butte

When: April 4,[masked]:00 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Meetup Description: Hazel and I are planning to drive out to Glass Butte on Saturday afternoon, camp on Saturday night then go for a hike on Sunday.

Glass Butte is a range of hills, famous for obsidian deposits, just off Route 20 about 70 miles East of Bend. We know some good campsites. The camping is rough with no facilities. At this time of year it will still be cold and there is always the possibility of bad weather so we don't recommend it if you don't have good sleeping bags and cold weather gear.

On Sunday we'll hike one of the hills. There are no trails. It is rough hiking and there may still be significant snow.

This trip is suitable for experienced campers and hikers only.

Let me know if you want to come. We'll sort out details like car pooling, firewood etc once I see how many people want to participate.
