Announcing a new Meetup for The Bend Hiking Meetup Group!

What: [Most Difficult] evening hike up Tumalo Creek trail
When: August 19,[masked]:30 PM
Where: carpool from Todd's house
RSVP limit: 5 "Yes" RSVPs

We'll meet at my house by the Galveston bridge and carpool up to the Tumalo Creek trailhead on road 4606 above Shevlin Park and head upstream for an out and back. Total distance won't be more than six miles, but don't let that fool you. This is a rough, rocky, primitive, steep, and narrow trail which constantly gains and loses elevation as it skirts under rimrock. Certain sections have moderate exposure, rock hopping or scrambling is common, and minor routefinding is required in a couple spots. It's quite pretty and surprisingly wild, but nothing like the mellow creek walking typical of trails elsewhere along the creek.

Pace will be medium fast to fast but sunset's at 8PM. I expect to be back in town before 9PM, but you must be prepared to hike in dusk and possibly dark. So pull out your 10 essentials and make sure the batteries in your headlamp are good. Dogs not recommended unless you can pick them up and put 'em in your pack.
