LOL - It's Official. The Bend Hiking Group email address has now been flagged as Spam by Google. Good luck getting of that list.

I like others don't appreciate the huge number of reply's to the original email sent especially when you consider there are near a 1000 members. So here's a couple tips when using email in Meetup (just FYI):

  • You cannot be removed by the Organizer(s) of the group from the main email list. It's just not possible on a broadcast message sent to [address removed]

  • You would have to remove yourself as a member of the group to do that, and you'd have to do that yourself - that's just how Meetup works.

The other option is to set your mailing list settings appropriately, in your own member dashboard under Email & Notifications (see screenshot):

Or, at the bottom of every email Meetup sends there are some links (like these) where you can set your email settings from as well:

In the future it's best not to hit "REPLY", rather just reply to the Organizer's email by selecting the email link next to the: "This message what sent by.." that way you create a discussion thread between you and the Organizer, or the other member you're wishing to address.

I hope that helps, and I apologize for yet another email to the group.

Please remove me from your mailing list. I am on a business trip and can't put up with all these emails. Plus they plug up my account. You should really consider this when ranting publicly.

Remember that not all hikes will be appropriate for dogs. It is up to the hike leader to decide if they want dogs on the hikes that they host. I'm asking the leaders to clearly state in the event title if it will include dogs or not. If you are unsure, then you can e-mail to leader to get a final answer.
It is the dog owner's responsibility to find the regulations that cover dogs in the area that the hike will cover. Don't expect the hike leader to do that piece of work for you.
