rich - Why the plan B – did you go out yesterday afternoon and stomp?  Not wear snowshoes on a New Year Moonlight Snowshoe – huh?

Amber, I love dark chocolate, and it's so healthy for the heart...so  they say. Well, I use it as and excuse to have a little most every day! Oops, Starbucks at 9:00 pm on Centrury Drive Right? I think they close at 8:00 though. Too bad, it would be nice to grab a latte!

See you tonight!

I’m planning to bring hot chocolate packets and Ghirardelli squares (both of the dark variety).  I’ve also got macadamia nuts, English butter toffee and various other goodies that someone (other than me) needs to eat.  :)  Let me know if we need anything else, and I’d be happy to stop and pick something up.

Hope to see you tonight!

Tom Cappy and I are bringing some things for the outing like I am bringing mondo Marsh mellows and a grill to place the smores on to cook. Tom is bringing...I think Graham crackers, plates and maybe some Hersey's. Tom, can you post again what you are bringing? Is any one else bringing anything; such as hot chocolate or paper cups for hot chocolate? I do have a box of instant hot chocolate, but also checking if others are adding to the pot. looking forward to this...weather providing! We should have an alternate thing just in case. Maybe we could go to Mcminnimens if the weather is too bad to go?

Tom and Kelley will be there – bringing graham crackers, a few large Hershey bars, and other goodies.  We are curious about Lilyx’s monster marshmallows.

Hey, I don’t want to relive my boyscout days up there – somebody bring a match!

“Cool beans”, dates you Rich.

Well, I think I can manage a couple of sticks. I am sure Helen can. I actually have a dried our tree that fell this summer, and a friend of mine cut it up in to pieces. I hope this wood will work!

Taking in just a wee bit more wood to replace the wood used might be appreciated by the volunteers, but, who knows? How does that work?

Well, Helen Maffei and I are in provided we have no freak extreme cold spells...like sub zero temps. I am bringing the Mondo Marshmellows. I hope if any one else is interested in smores, someone will bring the gram crackers, and another the chocolate hersey. Anyone bringing hot chocolate? I also hope there is wood available for burning in the wood stove at the shelter. See you there!!

Announcing a new Meetup for The Bend Hiking Meetup Group!

What: New Year Moonlight Snowshoe

When: December 31,[masked]:00 PM

Where:
Starbucks
Outside Safeway on Century Dr
Bend, OR 97701

Want to do something a little bit crazy for New Year. There will be a full moon on Dec 31st. We plan to hike to one of the shelters (by moonlight). Enjoy the fire and the company. See in the New Year then hike back to the cars.

We will meet at Starbucks on Century at 9pm, start hiking around 10pm and aim to be back at the car by around 1:30am.

PLEASE NOTE: Wandering around the forest at midnight in midwinter carries a certain amount of risk. This is only for experienced hikers. You should be prepared for extreme cold. You need a headlamp with a new battery. A flask of tea, coffee or soup is a good idea. Too much alcohol is definitely NOT a good idea.

Drivers need a snow pass and traction tires.

Leader is Rich Bumbliss.
