Ash Lawn–Highland (U.S. National Register of Historic Places), located
near Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, was the estate of James Monroe,
fifth President of the United States. Purchased in 1793, Monroe and his family permanently settled on the property in 1799 and lived at Ash Lawn–Highland for twenty-four years. President Monroe simply called his home "Highland." It did not acquire the additional name of "Ash Lawn" until after his death. The estate is now owned, operated and maintained by Monroe's alma mater, the College of William and Mary.
We will "barter" admission with some of our images ( Photographers will get photo credit if an image is used on social media site or the upcoming re-vamp of Ash Lawn-Highland Web Site), if each photographer is willing to donate an image or two ( Ash Lawn - Highland is a non-profit organization), we can not only save cost on admission but give back to an organization that preserves this Historic site for all to enjoy.
