Photo Walk Ash Lawn - Highland

Ash Lawn–Highland (U.S. National Register of Historic Places), located

near Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, was the estate of James Monroe,

fifth President of the United States. Purchased in 1793, Monroe and his family permanently settled on the property in 1799 and lived at Ash Lawn–Highland for twenty-four years.  President Monroe simply called his home "Highland." It did not acquire the additional name of "Ash Lawn" until after his death. The estate is now owned, operated and maintained by Monroe's alma mater, the College of William and Mary.

We will "barter" admission with some of our images ( Photographers will get photo credit if an image is used on social media site or the upcoming re-vamp of Ash Lawn-Highland Web Site), if each photographer is willing to donate an image or two ( Ash Lawn - Highland is a non-profit organization), we can not only save cost on admission but give back to an organization that preserves this Historic site for all to enjoy.

Looks like we will have nice weather and a small Group of 3 for todays Photowalk of Ash Lawn-Highland. Tammy and Lesile will not be able to attend. I will be at parking lot at 09:45... Look for the Scion with a canoe strapped onto of it :-) ... shortly after we finish today I'm heading to South Carolina for a week of canoeing/wildlife photography in the swamps :-) -rick

I went out to Ash Lawn-Highland today to "scout" what we might find of interest... One thing to consider is bringing a tri-pod and remote release and trying your hand at some HDR Landscape shots... The Garden is about to get it's 2nd blooms... I've also created a "photo album" for image uploads and posted some images from today.
