CPI-PhoozL Photo Contest - JUDGING RESULTS TONIGHT!

Submissions closed. Images being judged. Here’s how it works:

• CPI members, supporters, and friends submit images to a normal (free) “Weekly Weds” photo contest on Phoozl.com (must sign up to submit). The specified contest week is: Nov 20-27 for contest submissions, and all Phoozl.com Rules & Instructions apply (e.g., 3 max submissions per person). The contest theme is 'Portal'.

• NOTE: We have emailed all RSVPers with a direct link to the contest now that it is live. You will have until next Wed night (7:00pm EST) to submit entries.

• The online PhoozL contest will have it’s normal judge, but you will ALSO be judged separately by 4 CPI judges: Christian DeBraun, Nick Silvester, Rick Stillings, and Harald Johnson.

• CPI contest submitters (please make your identities known here once you have submitted) will have their own separate “mini contest” and will be reviewed by the CPI judges outside of the Phoozl.com contest (although some may be winners in both contests!).

• All CPI submissions to the Phoozl.com contest will be scored and judged by the CPI judging panel. Three winners and three honorable mentions will be chosen (each winner will be a unique person) and announced at the event, and  *ALL* CPI submitters will have one (or more) of their images shown and discussed at the CPI event on Dec. 3, whether they are winners or not.

• There is no fee or cost to participate.

• Don’t forget: you’re competing globally but also being judged locally. How cool is that?!

Minimum of 6 and NO maximum number of attendees for this meeting. Even if you are not submitting to the contest, you are welcome to attend the event and take part in the judges’ reviews and discussions. The more the merrier (and instructive)!

SCHEDULE

6:30pm - 7:00: Arrive and settle in.

7:00pm - 9:00: Photo contest results countdown, judges’ critiques, comparing results and comments to the online contest, and discussions.

+ Winners’ Prizes at end!

• 1st Place -- one year free subscription to SmugMug pro ($150 value)

• 2nd Place -- $100 Bay photo credit

• 3rd Place -- 2 free Bay Photo Metal ornaments ($32 value)

A real pleasure - enjoyed the in-depth and insightful comments - just what I was looking for.

  • Becky V.

Thank you again for selecting my image! There were so many beautiful entries. Congrats to the other winners!

We had 16 RSVPs, but only 8 people showed up. It would have been great if more people attended. We had a GREAT small group discussion and critique session, and the folks who didn't show up really missed out.

Not sure what's going on in C'ville but every major thoroughfare is grid locked out of UVA Area... Will not b there until 7:99-7:15

Had to change RSVP. Seems I've gotten sick with these changes in the weather. Next time!!

  • Peter C.

Ah - don't forget the fireworks, Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Blue Angels fly over!
Hey seriously.... do you need the full-rez files for display?

    December 2, 2013

    • Harald J.

No, Peter, we're set; thanks. You bring the fireworks!

      December 2, 2013

  • Harald J.

PhoozL will post Mike's winners probably tomorrow. We're trying to reveal the results of both versions of the contest (intl + local) as close as possible. More drama! :)

    December 2, 2013

  • Peter C.

    Hey Harald
Noticed Mike hasn't posted results yet. Does the curtain drop on all the picks @ CPI tomorrow, or is Phoozl independent?
    thanks <pc>

Submissions to this contest are now closed, and it's "Off to the Judges"! We will reveal the winners at the CPI event on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Even if you did not submit, come to the event as we show the winners and discuss all the images submitted. Will also be comparing to the international judge's picks at same time. Gonna be fun (and instructive)! Be there! ;-)

Last day! ‘Portal’ contest clocks are at 0-0-0, but you have a ‘grace period’ until <strong>18:59</strong> (that's 6:59pm) to submit to the contest. Bob T. just did so all steps on the winners' podium are up for grabs :). Here's the direct link for submitting: http://www.phoozl.com/weekly-photo-contest/portal/
(allow time to Sign Up first)

  • Harald J.

REMINDER: please follow the submission guidelines: 1200 pxls max on longest side of image. If much bigger the system will kick it out and it won't show in the Gallery. Less than 48 hrs to go! Only two entrants so far. Don't let them have all the fun! :)

      USA. Thanks HARALD.

Nauru of course (Unfortunately the National anthem was never committed to paper and the last person who knew it defected to Kiribati in 1968 and has not been heard from since.)

I've uploaded an image to be placed in the "Overall General" pool, it will be removed from the CPI pool since I'm one of the Judges for the CPI images...Good luck everyone -rick

  • Christian D.

As per Harald's "nudge", yes - get those images in!

I've entered one PhoozL contest (and placed as an honorable mention), and then judged one competition. It's loads off fun, and I want to ensure we get good turn-out for the judging on Dec 3rd!

Happy (Almost) Turkey Day (From a Guy who is in Turkey)!

    cheers <peter>

    November 25, 2013

    • Harald J.

@Peter: Yep, you're now officially entered. Has anyone told you that you have a creative mind? :)

      November 25, 2013

    • Peter C.

Well no, but my parole officer did say once I had potential...

  • Harald J.

    Only 2 days remaining!
    http://www.phoozl.com/weekly-photo-contest/portal/
And have only received one submission so far (thanks, Becky!)

To get the most out of this, try to submit 1-3 (free) contest photos. You'll be judged by an international judge (in San Francisco) AND four local judges (right here in C'Ville). And then we go over it all at the CPI event on Dec 3. And there will prizes during the local event.

And so far, Becky is winning ;-)

    November 1, 2013

    • Harald J.

Hey Gina! Which week? Maybe you can submit (Nov 20-27) and we can jury you Dec 3 "in absentia"? Just a thought.
