Lightroom 5 Basics

Lightroom 5.x Basics
The goal of this one-day hands on workshop is to get you started using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5. We (Rick, Ned and Sharen) are looking to assist those who are very new to Lightroom or have never used Lightroom before and struggling with getting started.

Since we will be doing a lot of hands on we ask that you bring:
A laptop computer running Lightroom, and power cable and any other equipment necessary to run your computer for 2 or more hours.

We will be working in small groups applying what you are learning, so we will need to limit RSVP's to 12.
We will also have a couple of spare laptops for group use.

We'll cover things like configuring Lightroom for your environment (Windows & OS X), developing a solid workflow, importing photos, tagging photos with keywords and phrases, managing and sorting photos, basic editing of photos, and exporting photos.

At the end of the day you should understand how to import your photos, how to tag them so that you can find them easier in the future, how to perform basic editing, and how to export your photos.

Not a must to have LR5... A lot of what will cover applies to LR4-LR5

I've closed the RSVP at 10 people. We( Rick, Ned, and Sharen) are doing a "dry run" today and it is clear we can only physically support 10 people

I am excited that we are 3/4 full with RSVP's after one day of the announcement. I just want to remind folks that this is a "LightRoom Basics" workshop. We will not be covering "advanced editing" techniques or features of LightRoom. We designed the workshop for folks who struggle or need help understanding the basic functions and features. LightRoom is a feature rich application and there is no way you could do a end to end workshop in one short day. So based on requests and feedback from members in past workshops we came up with this LightRoom Basics, to cover the bare metal basics, setting up, importing(key-wording, rating, basic collections) ,basic editing and exporting.
    thanks

Have always used Elements. Looking forward to learning about Lightroom. Thanks for the opportunity.

    • Rick S.

Do you use "Adobe Elements Organizer" for management of your images? You might want to read up on some of the challenges of importing Organizer Catalog into LightRoom catalog http://www.photokaboo...

i am using LR 4.4.1 currently....can't afford to upgrade....is that ok?

    December 14, 2013

    • Rick S.

Yes that will be fine. We will really be focusing on "basics" and very little on "advance" editing features of Lightroom 4/5 this go around.
