Shoot Off 2013

This year we will be adding a little twist to each month's shoot-off. It may be a special rule, or an extended deadline, or something else. We'll announce the twist along with the topic the morning of the shoot-off.

About the Shoot-off:

At 10 a.m. a subject will be announced to the CPI Supporters who have RSVP'ed to this event via email and the event page. Supporters will have until the deadline listed above to shoot, edit and upload up to 3 images from the assignment to a gallery hosted on our site. Any images submitted past the deadline will not be judged. When uploading images, please upload full resolution full sized images (we have had gallery shows with the winners before and having full sized prints makes the printing process easier).

Remember, this is a Shoot Off, not a submit off. All entries must be between 10am the day of the Shoot-off and the deadline.

A judge will be selected then choose the top three entries. Winners will be announced when the next shoot off begins.

This event will not require anyone to be present anywhere and entries can be submitted remotely. The contest topic will not be Charlottesville centric, so feel free to RSVP if you are planning on being out of town.

If you are having any trouble submitting, please contact G ([masked]) or Chris ([masked]) prior to the deadline. There will be no extension on the contest deadline and all rules listed must be adhered to.

This event is open to all CPI Supporters (paid members).

Loved this challenge. Apparently it was so challenging I couldn't get it together to submit. ha ha. Life got in the way but looking forward to more challenges like this.

Shoot Off Jan 2013

Topic: Emotion

Deadline: 24 hours - photos due on the meet up site in the folder specified below before 10am Sunday, Jan 27.

Details: The topic for this month is emotion. You pick an emotion and take a photo that represents that emotion. You can upload 3 images for this month, each can be the same emotion or a different emotion for each photo. Be sure to tell us what emotion you selected in the caption or comments of your uploaded image.

The catch: Your photo can't have anyone's face in the shot.

If you have questions or problems, let us know in the comments since others likely have the same questions or problems. If you can't get the upload to work, you can email the photos to G at [masked] before the deadline.

  Thanks Donald, that's helpful. I was toying with the idea of "determination" until hubby said that's more of a trait than an emotion. Oh well, hubby wins another arguement! lol

  Think I'll stick with this "...several emotional theories state that there are five emotions that are similar to all cultures: love, hate, joy, sorrow, and fear..." vs is anger an emotion or a feeling ...or lesser degree emotion of hate or sorrow.... love these what can appear to be "abstract ideas" ( An abstract idea; is an idea that can be interpreted in many different ways.)

Great and tough (for me anyhow) assignment. Still working on one other image. Inspires me to continue on my own - pick four other emotions and work on capturing those, no face allowed. Thanks for making me think a little sideways.
