Help support your MeetupChip in
Do you love to read, chat, and treat yourself to a good time? The Chester County Book Club is for you! Our members are all ages and consist of both males and females. We will meet at local spots and coffee shops to talk about good books! Most of our meetings are held somewhere between West Chester and Phoenixville. There are times when we will meet in Montgomery County (Royersford/Collegeville/King of Prussia) and we have met in Delaware County in the past. We're open to new meeting spots so feel free to recommend them. We try to meet once a month. Books are chosen normally by taking suggestions and then picking one through monthly polls. Books are normally chosen by the people who show up to the meet-ups. The group is diverse so the book list is diverse as well. We also go to movies based on books. This is not a dating site. A fee of $2 is charged at each event to cover the cost of running the meetup. This is not a for profit book club. If you're trying to market yourself or sell us your books, we aren't interested. Hope to get your input and see you soon!

Please update your RSVP as soon as your plans change. If you RSVPed Yes, you're expected to show up to the event. If you can't show up, change your RSVP accordingly. Often there are members on the waiting list. If you know you are unable to attend a meeting, please DO NOT WAIT until the last minute or the day before to change your RSVP. 24 hours is a short time to finish a book. Please be respectful of the other members. If you are on the waiting list, please wait until a spot opens up. Our meetings are limited in number because they are often held at restaurants and we've found that holding a group discussion is difficult with more than 12 people. Also, some of the venues are small. In the past when the waiting list was large a 2nd meeting would be held. However, due to poor attendance, 2nd meetings are on hiatus at this time. Participation is essential to having an active group. Also, If you are not at least 95% sure you can attend an event, please do NOT RSVP until you are SURE! :-)
Try to avoid last minute cancellations and no-shows by keeping an eye on your calendar. We understand that emergencies arise…just not every time. If you RSVP "Yes" to an event, it is just common courtesy to your organizer and host(s) as well as members on the wait list to change your RSVP immediately upon knowledge of your inability to attend.
In most cases, RSVP's are open until a few hours before the start of an event. In the age of the smart phone, this leaves ample time to adjust your RSVP, allowing us time to notify the venue (if applicable) of the change. For example, restaurants lose money when tables are reserved for large groups and only a few show up. It also casts a bad light on the organizer(s) and /or host as certain restaurants/venues are less likely to accommodate the group in the future. If you have been inactive for 6 or more months, you will be removed. If you have never attended a meeting and you are a no show or last minute (the day prior or day of) cancel, you will be removed.
No-Shows are frustrating to your organizer! The organizer works VERY hard to plan the best possible meetings for the group. If no one shows, the meeting suffers. Please don't assume that it won't be a big deal not to show up. It's quite embarrassing when an organizer makes a reservation for 12 and only 2 people show up. It's an inconvenience to the organizer to keep calling and changing a reservation and it's also unfair to those members who were put on a waiting list who cannot attend because someone took up an event spot with no intention of attending. I have adopted the "3 Strikes, You're Out" policy for No-Shows. If you also have a habit of changing your RSVP within 24 hours of the meeting and this occurs several times, you will be removed. If you have never attended a meeting and you are a no show or last minute cancel, you will be removed.
Thanks in advance for being a member and your understanding of the above policies. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact your organizer.
