How many dogs do you have, and what breed are they?

4 Chihuahuas although Farley might be mixed with Papillon. Doodah is 14 and very shy. She spent her first two years in a show dog kennel and doesn't like to get out much. Farley is a rescue and is about 10 years old. Coco is a rescue and is about 8 years old. She is a Therapy Pet Pals of Texas volunteer and we visit Ashwood Retirement Home twice a month. Miss Kitty is 9 months old and was going to be a therapy dog in training to step up when Coco needs to retire. However, she has some medical problems and has only 50% of her kidney function. I have not been able to socialize her as much and love that the Chi Amigos is closer to our house and smaller. She might be able to attend at some point when we get her health under control.

Are any of your dogs rescues? If so, from where? Care to share their brief story?

Yes. Coco and Farley are both from Ponderosa Pomeranian Rescue. Farley was a second time rescue and was about 5 years old when we got him. Coco was about 9 months old when we got her. Doodah was not technically a rescue but we got her when she was about 2 as she was not "show dog" quality and was just living her life in the kennel. One of our dogs had died and we needed a companion for Sammy, our long hair and maybe Papillon mix who lived to be one month short of 18 years.

What do you hope to gain by joining The Chi Amigos?

Keeping the Chi's socialized and being in touch with other Chi lovers. I also try to connect people with Chihuahuas or other dog needs. I don't have time to do anything officially but like to keep in touch. I have been going to the Chinatics meetups since the very beginning but have been too busy in the last several months. This would give an option for a different date and closer to home so I might be able to make it on occasion.

What is the most important reason you are joining The Chi Amigos?

Keeping in touch with Chihuahuas and their "people."

Dixie Tischler, a member of the Chinatics for years. Coco and Farley are both little rescues and are veteran meetup fans.
