Welcome to The Franklin Road!  Within the life of Benjamin Franklin is a wealth of ideas, advice, and a life plan that offers useful thoughts for living well today.  Join Frank Watson and Barbara McNamara as we learn and develop our portrait of Dr. Benjamin Franklin and develop a life style that includes his advice and wisdom!

If you are interested in Dr. Benjamin Franklin and his life and thoughts, or the American Revolution, and the ideas that shaped our country please join us for meetups for conversation, entertainment, and tea or wine as the occasion demands!

Our meetups will be in Indianapolis and also around the state of Indiana or wherever Barbara and I are led along "The Franklin Road!"  We hope that friends from Indy can visit us sometimes at events where we are presenting and also that friends from around the state will be able to meet with us and our friends in Indy.

For those of you who are in middle age or nearing retirement Barbara and say "Start enjoying life now!"  I am 68 years old and Barbara is 75 years old as we begin our best adventure yet!  Remember, Dr. Franklin was aged 70 when he went to France as American Ambassador and secured the assistance of the French government to help save the Revolution!

We attend rendezvous, timeline, and historical re-enactments as Dr. Benjamin Franklin and a fictional landlady and business manager, Goodye Watson. Our time period of interest is from Colonial America through the American Revolutionary War, the writing and signing of the Constitution, and the death of Dr. Franklin in 1790.

We believe that the past offers a great deal to inform the present and that historical reenactment is an excellent way to understand the past.  It is something that can be rigorous if you are doing primitive camping, as we sometimes do!  It can also be as relaxed and easy as spending a night listening to Celtic Music with Hog Eye Navvy or IOTA!

When we do a meetup Barbara and I pledge to dress in period clothing and cheerfully encourage others to do so as well.  If you are interested in doing so but don't know where to begin please join us!  We'd love to help you get started!

Most of all, join us in attending to Dr. Franklin's ideas on virtue as we develop those ideas in relation to Franklin's development of communities of virtue!  In the Spirit of Franklin,

    "This was short but sweet! A cold day saw the runners moving quickly (;c) Goodye and I were in "full Franklin" attire. We shared a school bell and, when Goodye wore out the ringer, a manual fog horn! I took a few pictures!"
