Bioinformatics Working Group

There has been some interest in working on bioinformatics projects, so starting on Sunday March 2 at 12:30p and recurring the first Sunday of every month we will be having a bioinformatics meeting.

Everyone is welcome, programmers who want to learn some biology, biologists who want to learn some programming, all good. I'm not sure what the format of the meeting will be so consider it experimental. If you have ideas for projects you might like to work on, please bring them. Or if you're not sure but are interested that's cool too. Maybe there will be a large group project that everyone collaborates on or maybe it will be more didactic, not sure. It's up to you.

For now this meeting will overlap with our regular "open lab meetup thing" that usually starts at 1ish every sunday. But if there is enough momentum we can change it to accommodate the group's needs.

So bring your laptop and any libations and munchies.

Also, RSVPing is not required but greatly appreciated.

Same here, I hit a piece of metal debris on the 2 south and spent the rest of the day cleaning up that mess. Next time hopefully less drama

Hey man, I'm really sorry, this message didn't come through until just now. Meetup.com was hit with a DDOS attack this whole weekend so a lot of the functionality wasn't working. http://meetupblog.mee...

I am a curious person with no knowledge or training in either field. I'm hoping to learn something.

We flow sort and sequence samples on a regular basis in our lab, but are always looking for more biological replicates ;-) ... ha ha only serious
