Our Own Little Medieval Folk Band
"The Left Bank" and "Naturalist for You" have formed a little medieval/folk band. We'll rehearse every Monday night at 7:30pm at Michael's house (occasionally at other musicians' homes). What kind of music do we like? Medieval, Renaissance, Celtic, folk, experimental--a mix of acoustic stuff. We're also interested in combining music and nature--playing on branches, stones, creating our own sounds, etc. Instruments we are looking for: singers, guitars, lutes, banjos, harps, flutes, tin whistles, viola de gambas, violins, fiddles, mandolins, tambourines, other medieval instruments, percussions and winds, harpsichord, piano.... You don't have to be an expert musician to join, you just need a good ear and basic music/chord reading skills. Our band includes Joel (mandolin, fiddle), Helene (flutes, recorders, harmonica, guitar), Kirk (that guy can play anything), Jared (guitar, studio recording), Michael, Koko, Mireille, Mayte, Melisa and Jie on drums... Join us!
You can download and print "Our Songbook" by clicking on "More" on top of this page, then "Files." Our Songbook is used at parties as well as for our little medieval/folk rehearsal. It includes rock songs, medieval songs and sailor songs. We'll update it regularly, stay tuned. If you want to add songs to it, please email Helene at [masked] and send your file. Please include chords and preferably music sheet as well in the file.
Here are a few examples of music we enjoy (click on titles):
