Paul presenting at the London Investor Show

I'm going to be delivering a speaking slot at the London Investors Show on 21st February. I'm going to be speaking on the topic "What I Wish I'd Known When I Started Trading." I'll be giving some insight from my own experience and from educating, mentoring and coaching hundreds of traders over the years.

I'm sure for the more experienced members of the group that you'll have your own thoughts on what you wished you'd known when you started. I'd be delighted to hear your thoughts and I may even include it as part of my talk.

I suspect that a few of us will slope across the road to the pub for a post show beer so you'd be welcome to join us.

Don't try to find the best strategy! Just BUILD IT yourself!!!! - this is something that I wished to know when I first time met "forex" in my life... It was 12 years ago...

    To answer your question Paul,
the two things I wish I knew about trading; Risk Management (Risk Reward) - Most successful traders are not winning more than 50% of their trades. I've only recently been using the 3:1 risk reward ratio and have started making a profit.

Psychology - controlling my emotions on a trade (Fear & Greed) and not to revenge trade! this is something I am still trying to get to grips with.

    Hi Paul

I don't have personal experience trading FX, so I asked Dary for you. It turns out I could have been the proud owner of a lot more shoes had he known the following when he started out ... "I wish I'd had a better understanding of the impact of key news events that act as a catalyst for price change, like non-farm payroll, GDP, interest rate announcements. Catalyst news events cause the market to gap, which in turn disrupt technical analysis patterns until the price action converges after the news event." Looking forward to catching up at the show! Alex

Ok traders, tell me one or two things that you wish you'd known when you started trading. The best ones will be used (and acknowledged) by myself. A chance to share your experiences.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
