It’s Rye Hon; Baltimore’s Original Whiskey
Long before there was a Bourbon County in Kentucky, people in the new world were making and drinking great whiskey. The settlers along the Chesapeake were making whiskey from the rye grain they grew. In contrast to the harsh living conditions they faced, their whiskey was floral, spicy and fruity. Baltimore soon developed an epic thirst for the best rye whiskey made in Maryland. The supply was supplemented by a slightly different style from the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania.
Whiskey America and TATU team up again for another outstanding whiskey tasting. Six rye whiskeys, including some local craft ryes, will be showcased. A light meal will be served to complement the whiskey as the boys from Whiskey America guide us though the history of rye: Baltimore’s first whiskey.
