All for the Union: The Civil War Diary & Letters of Elisha Hunt Rhodes
Gain a deeper understanding of the work that will be presented during FMoPA's upcoming exhibition: America's Civil War - Selections from the Drapkin Collection & Larry West.
"One of the most remarkable diaries I have ever read. Elisha Hunt Rhodes saw action from Bull Run to Appomattox and somehow survived, and his diary came to represent, better than any other I found, the spirit of the Union soldier."
- Ken Burns, director and writer of The Civil War
This personal account of the American Civil War provides new insights into an era of history that significantly shaped the United States. The soldier's spirit and resilience will give you a unique perspective to the work done by Civil War photographers which will be displayed at the museum. This book has 240 pages and is available online or at FMoPA's museum store.
We will meet at Kahwa Cafe at The Cube's lobby for the initial discussion. Coffee, snacks or lunch available for purchase. Then we will visit the museum for a docent tour. After that, for those interested, we will venture into the Old Tampa Book Company on Tampa Street to discover a great selection of Civil War photography and history books.
