I presented product strategy for ALOT.com at this meet-up. Thanks to every one for a great discussion and some great ideas and advice. I tried to keep our presentation informal, so I apologize if it rambled a bit. I had many take-aways, but the big one was increasing our knowledge of our existing and new customer base. I can't recap in this space, but I wrote everything everyone said down and appreciate it all. Thanks for a great meet up!

I presented the new product strategy for ALOT.com. I feel like the group got it and immediately jumped into productive conversation and advice. The conversation varied, but a lot of time was spent on increasing our knowledge of the customer to better make store content and feature decisions. I was really expecting a list of must have features for the product, but it was more about demographic strategy. Here's some of the suggestions: • Customer surveys • Don't limit scope to "lower end" apps • Get Facebook Connect on there to get some more data • Check out Appular • Harvest our search data better • Share all of this customer research with developers I have many more gems in my notes. I tried to keep the presentation informal and conversational, but I may have rambled. Next time, I would be informal, but still have some sort of outline or SWOT. I found presenting to be very beneficial. I would recommend the opportunity to any product manager. Thanks, all!

Productive conversation. Next time, I wouldn't mind if the discussion was more focused on concepts instead of individual experiences. Wouldn't mind if it was a bit more guided too, i.e. "ok so now does any one have a pricing success story to share... or a pricing failure story"... maybe helpful reference sites or books... Overall, a great meetup, I'll be back next month. -Greg Takayama Gawker Product Manager Sproutvideo.com Founder

Was a great free flowing discussion with many knowledgeable attendees. Really enjoyed it, and learned alot. One comment- Would recommend that more visual participations are facilitated, i.e. easy access to projectors for non-presenters. Would really help for people to be able to illustrate their points, and probably would facilitate people being prepared. The idea would be for audience (i.e. non-presenters) to be allowed/encouraged to project a slideshow in advance of their question. I think it would really bump the discussion up a notch and help the entire discussion to get more specific. The non-presenters could get their projection set up while other people are discussing things...

I liked how there was a roundtable discussion feel to it, instead of the usual presentation followed by a Q&A. This facilitates much more open discussion and allows lots of ideas to fly around. I'll be looking forward to the next meetup!
