Vegan Book Group

Greetings, worthy thanes:

Stacey has graciously handed the literary baton to me, and I solicit your suggestions for the next Vegan book group.  I would like to set a meeting schedule and pick the next two to three books.  I read at a glacial pace (well, a glacier unaffected by climate change, that is), and I confess that I found myself a bit rushed with the breakneck book-a-month pace that a reader of Stacey's intellectual alacrity could set.  I'd prefer to continue meeting Tuesdays, but preferrably bi-monthly.   That would put our next meeting at 28 Feb 2012.

As for books, I've a couple I think would be interesting, and I've had suggestions from others.  Please review the books I've tentatively selected below.  Let me know your individual preferences, and, depending on popular sentiment, I'll shift the order or add other books.  Please let me know.  For those interested, I've found that the occasional post-discussion tipple at Doyle's is a pleasant end to the evening.  Anyone who'd like to join me is always welcome.

Tally ho!

PS, I've updated the book list, which had initially reflected my unavailable choices.  Always looking for suggestions.  Thanks!  jps

October:  Kessler, Your food is fooling you.

December:  (Monday, 23 Dec) : Adams, Watership Down

Feb: Pollan, Omnivore's dilemma

Apr: Hammond, Hannah's Dream

June: Colb, Mind if I Order the Cheeseburger?

Kathleen, I appreciate your wise suggestion. The book group reviewed Tuttle's book in, I believe, 2011. Still, we could revive it for 2014. It has been touted by many (notably Philosopher Vegan) as life-changing, hence it's eternal relevance. I'll consider putting it in the queue. Thanks!

I'll be glad to get back to the book club in October. Good reading list this year. I just finished Will Tuttle's World Peace Diet last month -- not sure if the book club has read that, but it's good also.

    Gentles all,
Great to hear from you! We're reading the Kessler book for October and then a bit of fiction for December. Let me know if the list isn't posting. For some reason when I try to modify it the modifications vanish; it flummoxes me. Best wishes,
