  • Last year some of us joined the Thais where we cycled for 3 days and covering more than 360 km from Bangkok to Sangkhlaburi in the western rugged Kanchanaburi province which borders between Myanmar and Thailand. This is where Baan Dada Children's Home is located. We were greeted by some of the children on the last leg of our journey and together, we tackled the last mountain to reach the home on a high. It was a private fund raising trip by some of us in Singapore joined by our friends & supporters in Thailand. These children are mostly from Myanmar forced out by poverty and political repression. Many of them are orphans and as refugees, they do not enjoy privileges and benefits like the locals do. Baan Dada Children’s Home and Community Services is a project of the Neohumanist Foundation (refer to this link,http://baandada.org/). The person in-charge of the home is Dada (brother in Sanskrit) Rama who actually hails from the Philippines. Dada Rama is personally taking care of the children, providing vocational and education training for them and at the same time, raise much needed fund from organising a series of events to keep them going. It has never been easy for Dada Rama but he just presses on. Just last year, Dada Rama did a solo ride on his bicycle from Sangkhlaburi to Singapore in bid to raise much needed fund for some of his children going to university. I have taken the initiative to volunteer this year to raise funds for children’s education where we will be cycling from Baan dada home to Chaam Beach. We need to cycle about 430 Kms in a span of 4 days. We will be ridind in the day time and each day to cover about 100 KM. Lunch, Dinner and accommodation on twin sharing basis is included in the cost.

There is a mark-up of S$150 to the cost and all the proceed will be given to Baan Dada Home as part of our donation to them. I have targeted for 20 persons for this trip. There will be a lorry and 2 vans will be following us as a back up or supported. Anybody who are unwell or couldn’t cycle can rest in the van.

Should be able to cycle at least 60 Km in 3 hours as we need to cover 100 KM in a day.

Competent cyclist as first day is uphill

Good road but First day lot uphill followed by flat road

Therefore, the estimated cost including the S$150 mark-up and any excess amount will also be donated to BAAN Dada home and total cost is about S$729 per pax which includes the following and cost break down as follows

This trip is a co-operation between 2 meet-up groups -Give Odyssey Team (GOT) and Support and Loving One Another.
The trip will be headed by Madan, the Organizer of GOT.
I went on the trip with Madan, to Baan Dada Orphanage, earlier this year. It is a worthy cause and I returned, much blessed by the happiness of the children there.
As I can't host this event, I am posting it for anyone who might be interested :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
