CLYBOURNE PARK at Redtwist Theatre

CLYBOURNE PARK
by Bruce Norris
Directed by Steve Scott

http://redtwist.org/Productions/Clybourne/Production.html

A thematic descendant of Lorraine Hansberry’s A RAISIN IN THE SUN, CLYBOURNE PARK is a merciless satire on American race relations, targeting a quaint Chicago neighborhood. Act I focuses on the cozy post-war era in 1959 when a black family is moving into an all-white community. Act II takes us back to the exact same house 50 years later, when a white family begins the gentrification of a now black community.

CLYBOURNE PARK won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play. The first storefront production in Chicago, the playwright personally approved the Redtwist production, embracing director Steve Scott for the project.

Sorry that I cannot attend this production. But here are my comments: Saw this in NYC. Excellent play. Very interesting contrasts between Act 1 and Act 2. I would highly recommend you attend a production of Clybourne Park.

I wonder if this was the same production that was at the Steppenwolf. They had one production that had been in NY before coming to Chicago. It was NY Magazine's #1 theater event of the year.
