Singin' in the Rain (1952)

On Saturday, March 29th- We will be seeing the cult classic 'Singing in the Rain' at 2pm. Please meet in the lobby @ 1:15pm. The best musical of all times!!

Joint meet-up with Royal Oak Movie Group

Plot: In 1927, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a famous on-screen romantic pair. Lina, however, mistakes the on-screen romance for real love. Don has worked hard to get where he is today, with his former partner Cosmo. When Don and Lina's latest film is transformed into a musical, Don has the perfect voice for the songs. But Lina - well, even with the best efforts of a diction coach, they still decide to dub over her voice. Kathy Selden is brought in, an aspiring actress, and while she is working on the movie, Don falls in love with her. Will Kathy continue to "aspire", or will she get the break she deserves?

Yum, yum, yum. The lunch does sound tempting. I fist discovered the sweet potato place in Old Redford when it was run by an old lady who had the best cookie jar collection I've ever seen. Had some great pastry item while I lusted after her cookie jars. The original cookie jar collection was gone last time I looked, replaced by a much less valuable one and the old lady was gone too. If you need your hair cut, there's an old Italian man who has an old time barber shop on same block. He's been there since after World War II when he came to America. Across the street there is a vacuum cleaner repair shop. He's fixed my vacuum cleaner twice. Both great jobs and low price.

I'm not a great fan of "Singing In the Rain" God help me. Otherwise I'd go. I love all of you movie fans. Saw a great Italian movie last night called "The Double Hour" directed by Giusseppe Capotondi. Super thriller-romance-mystery. very noir but very much 21st century. There is a major twist and suspense up to the very last frame. Ksenia Pappoport and Filippo Timi give great performances. A romance, a robbery, a mystery and a thriller that will keep you guessing. I believe it's on Netfix .I got it out at Southfield Library on DVD format. It's very Hitchcockian. It will keep you guessing for sure. Ksenia Rappoport won best actress for her role in this film at the Venice Film Festival. If you get it on DVD be sure to see the deleted scenes and the actors, director and producers talk about the film. I believe it's a must see for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
