Travel with Stephanie to bohemian Paris 1865 in this story of young love and genius and lifelong friendship which endures in spite of all. CLAUDE AND CAMILLE the love story of the young, unknown Claude Monet and his muse Camille Doncieux.

In his early twenties, Claude Monet came to Paris, determined to make a success in painting. He quickly found poverty, obscurity and a beautiful upper-class girl Camille who threw away a life of privilege to be with him. He also made friends with a group of likewise unknown painters, often as poor as he was: Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, Bazille, Manet and Cezanne and somehow through every obstacle in the world kept them together until they began to be known as impressionists.

But the years of struggle and life in wretched rooms with little food began to wear on his patience and Camille's endurance until even as he was beginning to sell his work, their passionate love was descending into tragedy and he was beginning to understand that he had never completely known her. So great to have the author patiently answer all our questions! Restaurant was great, so nice not to be rushed out. Towards the end of our meal it got quiet and it was very cozy and relaxing to sit and chat. Sherley, as usual you knocked it out of the park-thank you for all that you do for us to see that we all enjoy ourselves !

As always Stephanie was wonderful. Claude and Camille was a very good book. We usually become aware of artists after they are famous. This book vividly showed the struggles they have to go through to achieve success. Wonderful and enlightened read.
