Domestic Exploitation: Is Pimp Culture Over Glorified in the Media?

Many Americans recognize sexual exploitation in Asia and Eastern Europe but there is very little awareness of the domestic exploitation happening in the United States, right in New York City.

Pimp culture is often glorified in media, music and movies - promoting this culture promotes ignorance towards the real social issues and camouflages the problem.

Our Q&A guest Jillian Lee, is a social worker who works with young girls in NYC to revert the brainwash by pimps to help these girls create a future for themselves.

Join Think Act Change for a controversial discussion on domestic and commercial trafficking in the United States that nobody openly talks about.

Jillian Lee is a star speaker and social worker in the domestic exploitation space. Her real stories are incredibly engaging and her positive energy of hope despite all the challenges she and her team face against the restrictions of the legal system, lack of funding and resources is truly inspiring. I walked away realizing that while the commercial music industry needs to take responsibility for it's ongoing misogynistic images and lyrics, our society needs to point out that it is wrong to degrade women and glorify pimps as idols.
