Think Act Change: How entrepreneurship can change the world.

I for one am really excited about this months meetup. I firmly believe that if we want to see real change in the world, we need to focus on fostering entrepreneurship.

On this amazing night, you'll hear from a wonderful speaker who'll talk about her personal journey and how she thinks we can change the world through entrepreneurship.

This will be a night of inspiration, education & conversation. Come along & get involved.

Featuring:

KAITLIN TAIT | Spark*

Kaitlin is the co-founder of Spark* International, a non-profit organisation enabling local changemakers in some of the poorest communities across Africa and the Asia Pacific. She also works to empower high school and university girls through The Girl Project, a powerful coalition of inspiring female leaders helping young women find a new confidence, a purpose for their life, and an understanding of how they can contribute to helping the world.

Before all this, she turned around a high-school in a Tanzanian slum, ran an HIV/AIDS orphanage in a village in Kenya and has worked across five continents. Kaitlin is an innovative social entrepreneur, an inspiring educator, and a powerful role model for a new generation of young leaders.

Don't forget about our 60 second shoutouts folks! This is your opportunity to take the stage to share an idea, ask for help or just say hello. DM me ahead of the night to secure your place!

Last night was a very well presented piece of work. Full marks for Kaitlin an inspiring example.

First time at the event. I think the best thing I took away was feeling I had come to a place where there was like-hearted (I suppose is the phrase rather then 'like-minded') people.
Good on you and your hubby, Kaitlin. The work you're doing is awesome.

(Can I ask though can you put up the real starting time for events, please.)

Very relaxed vibe, informal and yet creative in approach. I like the sass Avis gives too. Only downer was a shorter, stocky fellow who felt the need to bash into people every time he moved around the room, practically knocking them over. I wish dicks like that would just stay at home.

Awesome event. The speaker was fantastic - very inspiring. And the format was great. Having the talk, then an opportunity to share perspectives with the people nearby, then ask questions. Thank you Avis for giving us an opportunity to do a shout out for the Avatar Compassion Project.

Trampoline sounds like Bar Camp. How does it differ?

      October 9, 2012

    • Caroline

It's very similar to a BarCamp concept. The comparison would depend on which BarCamp you've been to. Unlike most BarCamps, Trampoline is not limited to tech/web. We get a whole host of topics, from meditation to hacking for outer space, intergenerational learning, wine making, the art of tea and even how to beatbox.

    Thank you !

I'm so sorry, but I think I might have to miss this one. Work just got a bit too busy today and I need to pump out some code.

BTW, I have some contacts at UTS and the UTS Union so I can try to sweet talk them into lending one of their lecture halls for free on a regular, monthly basis (I used to run a few societies, so I know a few tricks in getting free space ;) ).

I haven't had the fortune to come to one of these yet (the curse of running a start-up in Western Sydney) so I don't know what you require. Just hit me up if you want me to lean on my contacts and work something out...

    Hi Avis

This meet up looks very exciting. Kaitlind's track record is indeed impressive; the kind of motivated person my poetry describes. You know: 'Motivated feeling gifted to know love morphs into sentience'.
