(This is a cross-posting for an event in the Current National and International Affairs Discussion group, hosted by Mary):
We'll use the new book Brothers at War by Sheila Jager as a touchstone for the discussion. The book discusses the history of Korea, the reasons for the division of the country, the Korean war, the role of the democratic and socialist powers in the Korean question, the implications of the current regime, and the impact of NK on other nations including South Korea, etc.
I'll summarize the book briefly and then open the discussion. If you like, read and bring the book or a different source of information on the history of Korea or any other aspect of this topic.
This is an open forum. All opinions are welcome.
At the last meeting, I had 11 affirmative responses, but there were only 2 of us at the meeting. Kindly change your RSVP within 48 hours if you are unable to attend. I will have a sign on the table.
