Hello, I'm a native Washingtonian who has been thrifting for nearly two decades. In recent years, I have been sewing and thrifting for clothes to re-style, as well as ready-to-wear items.
My staples are hip modern mom casual (low rise, dark wash jeans, tailored jewel neck jersey knit tops, chunky jewelry, cool kid sneakers), but I have an eclectic style, love dresses (with a peculiar weakness for house dresses,) bright colors, bold prints, high heels and hemlines.
My regular is Unique at Viers Mill and Randolph. Usually on Monday or Thursday and always on holiday Mondays. I'll occasionally pop in to the Rockville Goodwill, but am too cheap/experienced for Goodwill's flat pricing on non-sale days. I also always go to the Goodwill outlet in Winston-Salem, NC when I'm nearby visiting family.
Early in my thrifting I scored a 1940's peach handmade lace dress, with a matching slip and huge rhinestone buttons on the collar. It was $2 at a charity shop.
