The Sugarloaf State Park Rangers have given us special permission to hold this event, and I want to say how appreciative I am that they were wiling to work w/ me to make this happen.  (The park is normally closed at sunset, unless you're camping there.)

Please note:  This will likely be the last Full Moon Hike we do for a few months

Here's the plan:

We'll hike under the full moon to our destination at the picnic area, and there we'll share dinner & vino, and enjoy the beautiful moon and the moonlit landscapes. I've made special arrangement w/ the park so we can do this (the park closes at sunset, but the rangers have agreed to let us do this).  Sugarloaf is a beautiful park under a moonlit sky.  We'll hike through meadows, and cross over a creek, so there will be lots to see.  The trail we'll take is wide and level, and meanders back to our picnic spot.

Total distance is 3 miles and the hike is rated easy.

I've been doing a lot of studying of  vampires and how to combat them. Seems the moonlight doesn't affect them, so I'll do my very best to protect everyone, but no guarantees. My best suggestion is to wear plenty of garlic cloves around your neck.  I eat a fair amount of garlic and have never been bitten by a vampire. Be sure to bring your sense of adventure!

What To Bring:

VINO (and cups)~ A hike is not complete w/out vino, so let's start there. Bring the bottle of your favourite - something nice of course!

FOOD ~ Dinner and snacks. Sky's the limit, just use your imagination. Cheese and crackers, sandwiches, burritos, pizza, pasta, salads, soup, tea?  Just bring plenty to share, as that's part of the fun.

Flashlight, or headlamp. We want to see the trail and I don't want hikers stumbling off into the abyss.  Last month we lost a hiker to a savage man eating newt. It was bloody awful!

A Blanket. We'll decide at the trailhead how many blankets we want. They come in handy when it's cool out. and make nice padding for picnickers.

Warm clothes, and decent shoes for walking/hiking.

$5 activity fee for this hike - thx!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
