Tour de Tahoe bike ride

  • Hi guys!

So who's up for a light, fun, easy bike ride?

Tour de Tahoe is on sunday, september 12th, and is 72 miles of fantastic scenery. It is the same route as the ride on June 6 - America's Most Beautiful Bike ride Tahoe - but if, like me, you were too late to get a spot, this is your chance to cycle Tahoe anyway!

The ride is all on roads, and will not be the easiest, but it's all about mental strength anyway so we'll all be fine :)

There is an easier ride - the day starts with a boat ride with breakfast across the lake, to join the route halfway and cycle the remaining 35 miles. More details here: http://www.bikethewes.... Registration costs 100$ and covers a free cycle clinic the day before, food at all the stops, support all the way, lunch, etc!

The ride starts and stops at the Horizon Casino Hotel, which will host a pool party after the bike ride for all the participants. They also have special rates for Tour de Tahoe cyclists - $104 for a room with two double beds, or a queen bed. They will have space for the bikes too.

We can all organise carpools closer to the time, but bear in mind we'll all be bringing bikes (obviously) so there might be some car rental needs if we can't get enough cars.

If so, you need to register on the website (this ride will fill up), and potentially book a hotel night. They can be cancelled with 24hours notice, so better be safe than sorry. A few of us have booked already, for friday AND saturday night - so it's a whole weekend in Tahoe!

See you on the roads! :)

PS: if you need a bit of training, the following is for century bike rides but still has good advice: The Tour de Tahoe website contains an elevation map that you might want to look at... or not.
