Alamere Falls Hike in Point Reyes 8+ miles

Alamere Falls is a little known California landmark, and this is an excellent hike along the California Coast Trail starting from the Palomarin trailhead near Bolinas. It is incredibly pretty with amazing ocean views and lush vegetation.

This is a moderate hike, w/ a somewhat challenging scramble down to the beach, and is a combined event w/ other Meetup Grps. There will be a cap of 25 hikers total from all grps involved.

What to bring:

Good Hiking Boots/shoes

Layered clothing.

Snacks/vino for our pre-lunch vino break.

Energy bars are highly recommended.

Lunch (packed w/ carbs) and food to share (dried fruit/nuts, chips, dips, cookies, use your imagination - hopefully not too much sugar.) At least 1 liter of water (2 is better)

Anything else you want to drink (wine, beer, etc.) You thought I was kidding?  I'll have a bottle of vino w/ me. Sunscreen and a hat.

Your sense of humour is an absolute must!

Directions to trailhead: Take Hwy #101 to San Rafael, and take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd. exit. Drive west 20 miles to Olema, then drive south on Hwy #1 for 9.1 miles to Bolinas Rd. (unsigned). Turn right and drive 1.8 miles to Mesa Rd. Turn right and drive 4.7 miles to parking lot and Palomarin trailhead.

The Hike: http://www.bahiker.co.... Game Plan: We'll hike to the falls, and have lunch on the beach.

Plan on spending the entire day.

Great place - absolutely gorgeous! It was good a grp, w/ a nice selection of vino. Hope more people will bring wine for the next hike. Some of us stayed and played frisbee on the beach, then went to dinner in Mill Valley.
